Matt Moore’s Final Seconds
August 2nd, 2016
Gone
As if to rub salt in the wounds of Rays fans, the local TV crew shared literally the final seconds of Matt Moore’s Tampa Bay career.
It’s all in the video below. Moore is hardly smiling.
What a kick in the balls to deal a quality starting left who just turned 27 years old — and turned the corner on his season.
As usual when the Rays dump a quality starter, you don’t really know what came back in the haul. The San Francisco Giants sent over third baseman Matt Duffy (just what the Rays need!), who hasn’t done much in the big leagues for a 25-year-old. And minor league shortstop Lucius Fox and minor league pitcher Michael Santos are now Rays, too.

Matt Duffy as SS? That is the only thing that makes sense in this trade and the kid had a nice 2015 but has regressed in 2016. Ben Grieve the 2nd???? The pundits seem to think the Rays got value but compared to who the Rangers, Pirates and Dodgers may have been will to deal, it seems to me Silverman got a bit soft come deal time…..

Congratulations to Matt Moore who successfully escaped this fustercluck!
Thanks for the memories. Say hello to Wil Myers out there on the Left Coast

Duffy did regress this year. That might have come from his injury early on. He will play SS and Brad Miller will move over to 1st, spell Forsyte at 2nd, play a little outfield and DH.
