Dark Curt Casali Comedy
July 11th, 2016The Rays got shamed and shutout by David Price in Boston yesterday, a 4-0 whimper that extended the Tampa Bay losing skid to six games.
In the can’t-make-this-stuff-up department, Kevin Cash had the stones to bat .165 hitter Curt Casali in the No. 6 hole. Fair enough, Casali hits Price very well.
So Casali drills a leadoff shot in the top of the second off the monster with the Rays already trailing 3-0. Casali thinks he can stretch it into a double, and he’s thrown out by at least 12 feet. It was deplorable base running and game awareness.
Of course, Casali goes hitless the rest of the game.
This stuff might have been somewhat funny when it seemed the Rays were cursed. Now it’s just ugly and humiliating and a sign of how lifeless the team is.

I understand it. Cashless wants to be aggressive and make things happen on the base paths. The 1 exception should be slow footed catchers. Every morning, I walk out to get the newspaper expecting a sports headline to roar: “Sternberg goes Rambo on the front office. No one survives”

Speaking of slow footed catchers, Hank Conger was just demoted to AAA. Let’s see what the lads down on the farm have. At least, they should be able to throw out a runner or two. Again, I don’t know what this front office was thinking. They knew he was 1 for 40 throwing out runners BEFORE they got him. What ??? You going to coach him up ?? Throw in not hitting and not being able to block pitches in the dirt and you have the trifecta for disaster. Yeah, I know, he was a # 1 draft pick. Man, we are in love with former bust #1 draft picks.

Buster Posey and the piece of sh*t pick of Tim Beckham will forever haunt this team!
Maybe the Rays will get lucky and hopefully find a catcher one day like the Bucs finally found a quarterback, but we see how long that took

JaiRays3 – They have three catchers (Make that 4 with Conger being sent down) in the minors that were taken in the 1st round. One has a bad back, one can’t hit, and the other had a shoulder operation recently.
