Snell Scare Wipes Out Sweep
June 17th, 2016Put the brooms away from another day.
Blake Snell failed to sweep the Mariners off their feet yesterday at the Trop, with Seattle snatching a 6-4 victory. Seattle jumped on Snell and the Rays, claiming three runs in the first, two more in the fourth and an insurance run in the ninth.
Reality hit Snell after his solid debut earlier in the season. He allowed five runs (one earned) and eight hits in just 3 1/2 innings against the M’s. That’s a great way to exhaust the bullpen. Ryan Garton and Tyler Sturdevant did mop-up duty the rest of the afternoon.
Ugh, little to say about this one. Some games are worthy of the wastebasket.
But this was a brutal sign with Snell getting a shot to establish himself worthy of the rotation. Yes, Joe can hear the Matt Andriese Mob screaming for justice. The Rays need Snell to prove he can be a solid, dependable option.
This act left plenty more questions than answers.

Whoa, Whoa, Whoa ! This wasn’t Snell’s fault. Our Round #1 pick and proverbial hope for the future, Tim Beckham, was not only responsible for the 4 unearned runs against Snell (2 errors at short), but also didn’t even tag up at third base on a fly ball to the outfield. That would have been the tying run ! To add it all up he was responsible for giving up 4 runs to the Mariners and not scoring one for the Rays when he had the chance. That’s 5 runs in a 6 to 4 defeat ! Joe, don’t know what game you’re looking at, but it certainly wasn’t Snell’s fault.

Bring Nick Franklin up. Send Tim Beckham out. Don’t care if he has options or not. We’ve had 5 years to watch this bust. Move on. This is why I don’t like picking high school kids in the 1st round. You can’t project 5 years out in a player’s baseball life.

Buster Posey haunts me in my dreams! Tim Beckham is a bum, a bust, and a waste of a pick! Snell nor any other pitcher can not win a game with that crap playing behind him….. Like Darth said, ERRORS and stupid baseball lost this game
