Archer’s Dirty Dozen

June 7th, 2016

archerrays2Yes, the Rays beat Arizona 6-4 in the wee hours last night, winning their fourth straight game.

Chris Archer fanned 12, but he still wasn’t sharp.

Joe might be nitpicking, but watch Archer’s strikeouts below. He got away with hanging some juicy sliders. Archer surrendered five hits, three earned runs and three walks to complement his untouchable pitches. A win is a win, but this outing didn’t feel like Archer (4-7)  turned the proverbial corner.

At 26-30, the Rays remain in the cellar a half game behind the Yankees.

Yes, a win is a win. I won’t quibble on 12 strikeouts ! That doesn’t come around very often in the league. I guess we are spoiled. Look who were the heroes last night…Tim Beckham and Desmond Jennings. Where have you been for the last 56 games ? These two will tease you with “What if” and then, like a prom date that doesn’t do the “dance of the seven veils”, disappoint you.
