Moore Sizzles, Ramirez Fries

That’s (Matt) Moore like it!

There was one rock-steady pitcher on the mound yesterday at the Trop, and it wasn’t the 2015 American League Cy Young Award winner.

Matt Moore took a paddle to the Astros’ backside in Tampa Bay’s 5-0 win, allowing just two hits and striking out 10 in seven innings to help the good guys claim a series win. Enny Romero and Tyler Sturdevant helped shut the door.

Meanwhile, Houston left-hander Dallas Keuchel slopped around in the fifth inning. Thanks to opportune hitting and a few defensive blunders, the Rays left Mr. Nine Losses in a sour mood after the game. Heck yes!

Joe likes the vibe after this one. Believe it or not, Tampa Bay is 7-2 after losing five straight from May 29-June 2. The Rays have won their past three series.

Yeah, Joe sees room to quibble. Tampa Bay’s defense lived on the wild side against Houston, Erasmo Ramirez looked spent in his outing Saturday. Joe is convinced Ramirez will be more fried than a chicken breast at KFC come August if manager Kevin Cash keeps riding him hard.

But leave those thoughts for later. This is a day to revel in sweet victory!

Having Matt Andriese back in the bullpen should take the pressure off of Erasmo.
