Masters Of Inconsistency
May 4th, 2016
Matt Moore took his first beating of the year last night
Well, talk about a terrible Tuesday.
Matt Moore was shelled for seven runs and eight hits in 4 1/3 innings, before Steven Geltz, Jhan Marinez, Dana Eveland and Ryan Webb gave charity efforts in a 10-5 loss to the Dodgers at the Trop.
The game was billed as a welcome home for Andrew Friedman, the former Rays top dog, but he was far from a courteous guest as Los Angeles’ president of baseball operations. His band of blue boys made a big mess of the FruitDome. The rout was on by the time Tampa Bay relievers trotted to the mound, but Eveland (one) and Webb (two) gave up three combined runs (two earned) to represent the bullpen’s bruises.
Time to toss that tape, right?
The Rays have become consistent at being inconsistent. After winning three consecutive games from April 24-26, they’re 1-4. The offense disappeared in three of those losses, with one run produced in each defeat, but pitching failed Tampa Bay last night. Plain and simple.
Thank goodness there’s always another day.

Matt Moore will be fine. He still has his velocity. Just needs to locate better. Now, here’s a job I think everybody in Tampa would like. One that you keep over the YEARS, even though, the product consistantly sucks. I’m talking about Hitting Coach Sheldon. What a mope ! How can our offense keep getting ranked near or at the bottom of the league for YEARS and he still keeps his job ? Heck, put me in as hitting coach, give me $500,000 per year and I will suck just as good as Sheldon. What a sweet gig !
