Matt Andriese pulls the Rays from the dark side
Hey! Your Rays are racking up the Ws on the West Coast!
Tampa Bay snatched its fourth consecutive victory by completing a sweep of the Angels yesterday in Anaheim. Matt Andriese produced an A-plus effort in allowing just one run and four hits in seven innings. Steven Geltz, Xavier Cedeno and Alex Colome placed icing on a Mother’s Day masterpiece by surrendering one hit with two strikeouts the rest of the way.
At last, the Rays live on the sunny side of .500. With a 15-14 record, they’re 2 1/2 games behind the Orioles in the American League East.
By the way, is there some way to plop Angel Stadium on either side of the bay? Joe has your stadium solution right here! For whatever reason, the Rays rock when they swing by the SoCal site. They’ve won five consecutive games at the location, and they’re 21-8 there since May 11, 2010. Go figure.
Hopefully, the West Coast winning vibes continue when a three-game series against the Mariners starts tonight with Matt Moore taking the mound opposite Felix Hernandez.
When the pitching pulverizes hitters and Brad Miller – Brad Miller! – knocks clutch two-run rockets, anything seems possible.

Does anyone else feel like they were showcasing Matt Andriese for a trade. Aren’t the Angels in desperate need of a starting pitcher?
I’ll bet the Rays would swing a trade for a quality catcher and shortstop.
Escobar looked pretty darn comfortable at 3rd base.
I saw James Loney drinking a Sombrero Upstairs at the Ace Hotel and his hair was perfect!

Brad Miller hits another game winner. Keep up your fielding and we’ll let you stay on the team. Logan Morrison; not so much. It’s May 9th and no RBI’s yet ? Is this a record for a designated hitter ? Wonder if we’ll see Nathan Karns in Seattle who was traded for these two. (3 – 1 record with a 3.38 ERA).

Glad Miller is starting to hit. His fielding, not so much. He did make routine plays but botched a fairly easy grounder in the hole and actually fell down, and had a hard time getting up. Doesn’t remind anyone of Ozzie Smith. We still hold our breath on every grounder that goes to him.

Yea, I saw Miller playing SS in a spring training game. 2 throws to 1st where the 1st baseman picked them up on a short hop and a third throw pulled the 1st baseman off the base. They said he had to get his feet planted better. I’m thinking, “Wasn’t this supposed to be covered earlier in his career ?” He has to wait until he’s a MAJOR league SS to learn it ?
