The Three Stooges & The Bullpen

April 26th, 2016

StoogesYes, the Rays have outscored opponents 10-1 in their past two games. Doesn’t the dominance feel good?

The Rays’ pitching machine hummed again Monday.

The past two games have served as a revival on the mound for the good guys. Enny Romero and Erasmo Ramirez, Xavier Cedeno and Alex Colome were on point in a 2-0 victory over the Orioles at the Trop, doing Chris Archer’s sterling 10-strikeout start justice. This came on the heels of Sunday’s spanking of the Yanks in the Bronx.

The bullpen hasn’t allowed an earned run since Ramirez coughed up one in a loss to New York on Saturday. Relievers haven’t allowed two or more earned runs in a contest since Dana Eveland surrendered two in a loss to the Yanks on Friday. That’s solid stuff.

It’s unreasonable to expect the near-spotless pitching to continue at this pace, but this is a fine little stretch the Rays have put together. It’s almost enough to make you forget how awful Brad Miller (Moe), Logan Morrison (Larry) and Hank Conger (Curly) have been!

Er, not quite.

Let’s do it again, shall we? Finally, after being as trustworthy as a bankrupt used car salesman, Rays’ starters have turned things around. All along, the bullpen has kept the hiccups to a minimum.

Ride the momentum, boys.

You’re right, Cpt Nicky, you are the one, the only one.

I saw James Loney drinking Dom Perignon at the Marchand Bar & Grill and his hair was perfect!

Look at Erasmo’s stats: 14 strikeouts with only 1 walk. WoW !. Therest of the Era’s are stupendous ! Total 51 KOs versus 14 BBs. Now that’s pitching ! Now get rid of the two turds from Seattle and Conger and bring up Matook, Schaffer, and Robertson and look out ! As far as catching, anyone in our minor league system would be better than Conger.
