MVP through 12 games?
After trudging through the muck of poor starting pitching for most of last week, the Rays saw glimmers of hope over the weekend.
Right-hander Erasmo Ramirez, who began the year in the bullpen, notched the first win by a Rays starter against the White Sox on Saturday. Then Sunday, left-hander Matt Moore turned back the clock to 2013 with a strong two-run, five-hit outing over 6 1/3 innings to cap Tampa Bay’s first series win this season.
Enny Romero and Alex Colome did the job to polish Moore’s matinee masterpiece, allowing no runs and no hits in 2 2/3 innings between them. It was a good way to end a winning weekend.
Folks, this is what winning baseball looks like: The starter carries the load for six-plus innings, the offense cranks out enough runs to gain a lead and the bullpen is there to finish everything off. It’s not nuclear physics.
Chicago’s offense has struggled, but it was still a good sign that your Rays snatched two of three contests from the South Siders to put the breaks on a season-long three-game skid. Tampa Bay gained needed momentum before starting a six-game American League East road trip against Boston and New York this week.

Miller hits a home run and then smashes Souza’s fore arm knocking him out of the line up. Nice.
