Ride The Hot Hand

April 19th, 2016

GuyerIt’s about time someone answered the call.

Brandon Guyer was more than just a guy lost in the crowd Saturday and Sunday.

The shifty outfielder became a one-man wrecking ball against the White Sox, going 5-for-6 with one home run and two RBIs in a pair of victories. His batting average rocketed from .091 to .353 in the process.

Primarily used against left-handed pitching, Guyer made the most of his chances to provide much-needed life for the Rays’ offense. It’s too bad he’s not better against right-handers; it would be intriguing to see if he could provide punch to Tampa Bay’s offense on a regular basis. He’s hitting .276 with an .813 OPS against lefties, but he drops to .247 with a .654 OPS against righties.

Still, thanks goodness the White Sox trotted out lefties John Danks and Jose Quintana, who were more vulnerable than two corn-fed cows at a processing plant. Guyer had his way with both of them.

The Rays must capitalize on the momentum built before jetting north to start a six-game road trip against the Stinkin’ Saux (tonight) and Yanks (Friday). Manager Kevin Cash would be wise to insert a hot Guyer into the lineup.

I’ve been beating the drum for Guyer, Matook, and Schaeffer all year. They earned it last year but 2 out of three are toiling in the minors when we have the M & M Turds from Seattle playing. Wake up America ! Miguel – I think I saw Loney at a Jimmy Buffet themed bar in Sarasota.

Kudos for the Loney update. Was he drinking a Cuba Libre?

I believe it was a Stella. He got up and left quickly with his hot little chakita when I pulled out my phone. and by the way, the M & M Turds went 1 for 9 yesterday with no ribbies and 3 punchouts. Just saying. I’m glad I changed my handle from Ray of Sunshine to Darth Ray-der as I am an old testament, head cutting off laser type of guy.

    Maybe it’s spelled Chaquita.
