Four Straight Lockdowns
April 29th, 2016The bullpen is hot, hot, hot, hot.
Relievers capped off their fourth consecutive game without allowing a run. If you’re keeping score at home, the bullpen hasn’t surrendered an earned run since Erasmo Ramirez did so in a loss to the Yanks last Saturday.
That’s four days of waving the Dikembe Mutombo “no, no, no” finger at the opposition. That’s four days of giving – let’s be real – inconsistent starting pitching and a weak offense a chance to scratch out a victory.
Where would these Rays be if the bullpen were less bullish and more bust?
Mercy, that’s not a pretty thought.
Thankfully, it was more of the same Wednesday. Relievers Ryan Webb and Dana Eveland were perfect over two innings, after left-hander Matt Moore was tagged for three runs and three hits in seven innings. It’s a shame that former Rays prospect Joey Rickard haunted his old franchise with a three-run shot in the fifth inning, because Moore was solid otherwise.
But the story of the season’s opening month has been the bullpen outperforming even the rosiest of expectations. That tale continued Wednesday.
You shouldn’t be surprised anymore.

We get it, Hickey’s Hillbillies are great.
What the Rays need, is a solid catcher who can hit consistently and a defensive first baseman that can hit more than he weighs.
I saw James Loney drinking a Pabst Blue Ribbon at Draft Picks last night and his hair was perfect.

I’m sure the PBR was a tall one. Funny, I thought his hair was kind of off center last night. Could it be ?…a toupee ? Say it ain’t so..Joe.
