Archer Flashes Lethal Changeup
March 5th, 2016
Strong spring debut
Great news coming out of the Rays’ third day of spring games yesterday.
Chris Archer took the hill against the Red Sox and flashed a lethal changeup that, per WDAE-AM 620 beat reporter Steve Carney, had trained observers thinking it was his slider.
His slider also was cooking, and Archer handled Red Sox lineup that was its “A” team. Archer finished two scoreless innings with 26 pitches, and just two base runners allowed, one on and error and a hit batter.
The Rays lost 7-2 but had a bunch of noodle-arm minor leaguers throwing the rest of the way.
Enjoy the quality audio from Carney.
